Fitness Stations to Open June 11 at Nike Sports Complex
The community is invited to a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11 at Nike Sports Complex.

Thanks to the vision of Fran Krumlauf, an exercise physiologist, and a generous contribution from Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare, the Naperville Park District recently installed six fitness stations for the community at Nike Sports Complex.
The Naperville Park District will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11 to officially open the new fitness stations. The event will take place near the parking lot and synthetic turf field at the 1520 N. Mill Street entrance of Nike Sports Complex. The public is invited to attend.
Studies have shown that outdoor exercise brings many health benefits including increased energy, positive mood, decreased anxiety, better sleep, and motivation to continue exercising.
Fran Krumlauf, an adjunct faculty member in exercise science at North Central College and Benedictine University, originally presented the idea of installing fitness stations at the Riverwalk. When Riverwalk Commission recommended a different location, the Naperville Park District suggested adding them to the multi-use trail at Nike Sports Complex, with parking and other opportunities for recreation available at the park.
“We’re thrilled to be working with the Naperville Park District to put our Healthy Driven initiative into action,” said Pam Davis, System CEO, Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare. “Community members can use the fitness stations as one element of a healthy lifestyle and to take personal responsibility for their health.”
“We appreciate Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare’s partnership in bringing this popular fitness equipment to Nike Sports Complex, which is one of our busiest parks,” said Naperville Park District’s Executive Director Ray McGury.
