Former Addison School Worker Charged In Credit Card Points Theft

Marcia Boyan, 50, turned herself in Oct. 31, 2018 after reportedly stealing thousands worth of school district credit card points.

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — A Naperville woman has been charged with several counts of theft for stealing more than $11,000 in credit card points from her former employer, Addison School District #4, DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin announced Thursday. A $10,000 with 10 percent to apply arrest warrant for 50-year-old Marcia Boyan, of 2147 Oak Court Naperville, was issued on Oct. 25 by Judge Joseph Bugos, Berlin said. Boyan turned herself in Wednesday afternoon before posting $1,000, and was released from custody, the attorney said.

According to Berlin, Boyan has been charged with one count of theft of governmental property in excess of $10,000, one count of theft in excess of $10,000, and two counts of official misconduct, all felonies.

The charges stem from the theft that took place between Feb. 2016 through April 2017, when Boyan was employed by the school district and reportedly stole more than 900,000 My Bank...My Rewards credit card points earned on Addison School District #4 credit cards for personal use without the district's authorization, according to the state's attorneys office.

I would also like to thank Assistant State’s Attorney Ken Tatarelis and Investigator Nick Liberio for their work in preparing a strong case against Mrs. Boyan.”
