Free Cone Day Returns To Ben & Jerry's: How To Celebrate In Naperville

NAPERVILLE, IL — Ice cream lovers can jubilate as they sate their scoop cravings during Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry's. The highly anticipated April 3 event will be the first time the chain hosted Free Cone Day since before the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

During the festivities from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., customers can indulge in limitless scoops of their favorite Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavors. The scoops are doled out one at a time in cones or cups, but ice cream aficionados can head back to the line to wait for another scoop once they've finished.

Tom O'Toole, who owns the Naperville Ben & Jerry's, which opened in 2021, said they're looking forward to taking part in their first Free Cone Day. Naperville firefighters will lend a hand by doling out scoops alongside the shop's staff.

“This annual tradition is our way of thanking our fans for their continued support," O'Toole said in a statement. "We are honoring our Naperville Fire Department by giving all donations to Naperville Professional Firefighters for a Cause."

Those who visit the Scoop Shop can also take part in a raffle and kids can get their faces painted on Free Cone Day.

Ben and Jerry's hosted its first Free Cone Day in 1979 to show their gratitude to customers after they had been open for a year, the company's website said. Since then, the event has grown exponentially, expanding globally in 2000. As of 2015, Ben & Jerry's had given away 1 million free ice cream scoops around the world.
