Gun Violence Forum To Be Held In Naperville

Mothers of gun violence victims, students, and police will join Congressman Foster to discuss gun violence.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Area officials, victims of gun violence, and local students will come together in Naperville for an open discussion on gun violence. Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11) will host the April 2 event at Yellow Box Community Christian Church, 1635 Emerson Ln., Naperville.

The discussion comes just over a month after 17 people were gunned down at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Marsha Lee, who is the mother of a gun violence victim, will be one of the discussion participants. Lee is part of Everytown Network, "a movement of Americans working together to end gun violence and build safer communities," its website states.

Lieutenant Rick Robertson of the Aurora Police Department will be on hand, along with Dr. Karen Sheehan, System Advisor with lllinois Violent Death Reporting, to share statistics and field questions.

Students from Naperville North High School and Metea Valley High School will offer a young person's perspective on the issue of gun violence and its impact on students in the wake of the Parkland shooting.
