NAPERVILLE, IL — A kitchen fire broke out in a restaurant in the 1700 block of Freedom Drive in Naperville Monday, causing approximately $25,000 in damages to the building.

When firefighters got to the scene, they found black smoke coming from a vent in the roof. Fire crews had to use force to get into the building, as the restaurant had already closed for the night.

The fire was located in the kitchen, where it was being contained by an automatic sprinkler system. Firefighters put out the remaining flames, and then stayed at the scene for 30 minutes to make sure no hot spots were left.
