Élan Dance Company Auditions to be Held May 23

Just as young children can discover the joy of dance at their first Park District ballet class, so, also, can growing dancers pursue their dreams by joining the Park District's pre-professional performing ensemble, Élan Dance Company.

Students between the ages of 9 and 21 interested in joining Élan Dance Company for the 2017-2018 season are invited to audition for placement in one of three groups within the Company on Tuesday, May 23.

Auditions will take place in Room 123 at the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center, located at 305 W. Jackson Ave. Specific times for each age group are as follows:

• Junior Company (ages 9-12) 5:00-6:00 p.m.
• Apprentice Company (ages 12-15) 6:15-7:15 p.m.
• Senior Company (ages 14-21) 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Élan Dance Company presented their 2017 Showcase at Pfeiffer Hall on May 6, which included solos by three graduating seniors and a stunning program of original choreography performed by the dancers with skill, confidence and artistic expression. Next on the calendar for Élan Dance Company is a performance at the Kathryn Bender Showcase at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 13 at Naperville North High School. Élan Dance Company finishes the 2017 regular season by performing at the annual Naperville Park District Dance Academy Recital on Sunday, May 21 at Naperville North High School at 12:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Summer performances include preshows at the Millennium Carillon Summer Recital Series on Tuesday, July 18 and Tuesday, August 15 at 6:30 p.m. and a performance at a Chicago Bandits game on Sunday, July 22.
