“Hope is the unrealized achievement in the journey of recovery. A journey that challenges us to stretch in ways that we thought not possible, to grow in our understanding of self and to develop qualities that will sustain change. Maintaining the motivation to walk in recovery may be inspired by even the smallest seed of hope. We look forward to celebrating hope and recovery with all of you on May 22,” says Ryan Lauterwasser, Manager of Eating Disorder Services, Linden Oaks Behavioral Health.

The Candlelight Vigil and Recovery Celebration is an opportunity for members of the eating disorders community to gather and support each other. This event is a powerful opportunity for those in recovery to share stories, reconnect with former patients and families, and give hope to others as well as themselves. In the past, more than 300 people have gathered to motivate and encourage recovery, provide support for families, commemorate those who have lost their lives and recognize those who have recovered and survived.

This year, the event will feature keynote speaker Johanna Kandel, advocate and author of Life Beyond Your Eating Disorder. In addition, there will speeches by recovering/recovered eating disorders patients and musical performances.
