Man Convicted Of Break-In, Sex Assault In Unincorporated Naperville

Police say Thaddeus Jones, 26, of Aurora, broke into a woman's house, sexually assaulted her, then forced her to give him money in 2018.

NAPERVILLE, IL — An Aurora man was recently found guilty of breaking into a woman's home in unincorporated Naperville and sexually assaulting her in 2018. A jury found Thaddeus Jones, 26, guilty of home invasion, aggravated criminal sexual assault, robbery, aggravated kidnapping and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Police were called to a home in unincorporated Naperville on March 23, 2018, after a home invasion was reported. According to investigators, Jones broke into an elderly woman's home and sexually assaulted her before kidnapping her and forcing her to take money out of an ATM.

Police say the woman was able to break free when she and Jones returned from the bank, but that Jones then stole her vehicle and fled. The stolen car was late found in a parking lot in Naperville.

Jones was arrested shortly after and has been in custody at DuPage County Jail since the incident.

"This was a horrific, violent attack and sexual assault of an innocent woman in her own home," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.

Berlin added, "While the victim in this case will never be able to forget what happened to her, it is my sincerest hope that the jury’s finding of guilty on all counts will provide her some measure of justice knowing the man responsible for so much pain and suffering will be held accountable."
