Adam Stone, 28, was convicted on two counts of home invasion in connection with the 2022 incident.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A Chicago man was sentenced to 20 years in prison after breaking into his ex's Naperville home in 2022, according to a news release from DuPage County State's Attorney's Office. At the time of the incident, the man, identified as Adam Stone, 28, had been on probation for charges of aggravated domestic battery.
Stone was convicted on two counts of felony home invasion during a two-day trial in May 2025.
On Aug. 6, 2022, police were called to a home on Smokey Court for a report of a break-in. When they got to the scene, officers saw "several men holding down" Stone, the news release said.

Prosecutors say Stone had shattered a basement window to get into the home. He also threw landscaping bricks at the front window of the residence and at cars that were parked outside the house, per the news release.
"We all have the right to feel safe and secure in our homes,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.

Berlin added, “Our homes are our sanctuaries that provide us with safety and security and when Mr. Stone broke into the victim’s home, he not only shattered the feeling of security the homeowners previously enjoyed, he also set an entire community on edge. Judge O’Connell’s twenty-year sentence sends the crystal-clear message that in DuPage County, we will not stand for this type of violent behavior and anyone engaged is such behavior will find themselves facing serious consequences."
