Family Brings Handwoven Silks & Linens Direct to Interior Designers and Consumers

Downers Grove has a new gem. Those who appreciate fine silk and linen fabrics are in for a treat with the opening of the Home&Manor flagship store. Local resident, Sheikh Parwez and his family are expanding their luxury textiles business into the United States later this month.

The retail and custom-order showroom in Downers Grove will offer the same luxurious silk and linen fabrics, textiles and home décor that their international customers have grown to love.

Sheikh Parwez was born in the town of Bhagalpur recognized worldwide as the silk city of India where silk weaving is a traditional household industry. “Most households own a loom and family members work together perfecting their skills. It’s a meticulous process and you have to be patient to create that perfect finished product.” With the rich tradition and pride of their craftsmanship, it’s no wonder the quality of textiles produced in this area are rated second to none.

The Parwez family has been in the textile manufacturing business for over three generations. In the early 1960s, the business expanded distribution throughout India and was offered through high-end retailers.

In 2013, when the family patriarch passed-on, the children made a decision to forego their chosen careers in engineering and medicine to continue the legacy that their father and grandfather had worked so hard to create. “We wanted to keep his spirit alive and carry on the family tradition, bringing the beautiful, handcrafted silks from India to our friends and neighbors.

Our collections include items for all rooms throughout the home.

Home&Manor can match any look, color, pattern, and design to great perfection.

“I want to give people the best quality at the most affordable price” says Parwez. “I travel between my home and India regularly. There is no middle man, so we can eliminate that cost and pass that savings on to our customers.”

“With our store, I wanted to create an experience that feels like home. I’m very passionate about our products. We want our customers to use our products and love them.” Parwez says.

As we celebrate our opening, we have partnered with a Downers Grove charity, Seaspar, that provides recreational activities for those who are disabled.

The Home&Manor opening is Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 5-8pm. We’ll have food and beverages, entertainment and more to showcase our new flagship store located at 7325 Lemont Rd in Downers Grove.
