Museum CEO Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

DuPage Children’s’ Museum (DCM) President and CEO, Andrea Ingram, received a Lifetime Achievement Award on Thursday, May 2 at the Chicago Council on Science and Technology (C2ST) Science in the City Gala. Gathering 100 of Chicago's leading scientists, innovators, and business leaders for an evening of celebration, inspiration, and networking, C2ST honored individuals and organizations making significant impacts on the STEM ecosystem in the Chicagoland area.

Lifetime Achievement Award nominees may be leaders of organizations that have a history of promoting science and literacy through their programs; conveying principles of science and technology to the general public; and advocating for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) initiatives in civic and educational arenas. Individuals who have also done exceptional work of fundamental or societal value are also candidates.

With a notable career of advocacy and service to children and families, Ingram checks all of the award criteria, earning her much deserved recognition for a lifetime of impact. From her time as a lawyer, to Vice President of Education at Chicago’s MSI, and finally as CEO of DuPage Children’s Museum, she has been a consistent advocate throughout her career for STEM learning and partnering authentically to create learning experiences for children and families.

Her commitment to children and families sustained DCM during COVID-19 closure, and her bold vision propels the team to innovate and iterate for maximum impact,” shared DCM Board Chair, Larry Larsen. “The board proudly celebrates Andrea and her leadership.”

In accepting her award, Ingram expressed, “I am honored and thrilled to have been recognized by leaders in the Chicago STEM ecosystem. There is no more important time to be doing this work – to encourage and facilitate the understanding and the importance of science, how to be creative, and what it means to all of our lives. This work is the work of our times. There are beautiful humans – children – capable of solving the enormous problems we will leave for them.
