As of 11:30 p.m., Mayor Steve Chirico had nearly 52 percent of votes and Rocky Caylor had 48.30 percent, with 100 percent of precincts reporting.

Chirico was elected in 2015 to become the city's first new mayor in two decades. He faced challenge from Caylor, a former Marine and local entrepreneur who has lived in the city for nearly 30 years.

Caylor and Chirico recently made headlines after Chirico hired a firm to do a background check on Caylor. Caylor challenged the incumbent for doing the background check and Chirico rebutted by saying he also did a background check on himself and would make both available if Caylor asked.
