Naperville Amtrak Shooter Unfit For Trial: Psychologist
A court-appointed psychologist said Edward Klein is unfit for trial. The final decision, however, lays with the judge.

NAPERVILLE, IL -- A court-appointed psychologist said on Monday that the Wisconsin man who shot an Amtrak conductor in Naperville on May 16 is unfit to stand trial. The 79-year-old retired federal officer was charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm.
Edward Klein, 79, of West Allis, Wis., may be ruled unfit to stand trial. Judge Daniel Guerin will decide at a future hearing at the DuPage County Courthouse, potentially on the Aug. 7 update.
The Naperville Sun reported that discussions between the attorneys and the judge revealed that they believe Klein will most likely not return to mental fitness within a year.
