Naperville Basement Fire Caused By Electrical Charging System: FD

Fire officials say the electrical charging system ignited because it was not ventilating properly.

NAPERVILLE, IL - Naperville firefighters fought a blaze that started in the basement of a home late Friday. The fire was caused by an electrical charging system that was not ventilated properly, according to a news release from Naperville Fire Department Bureau Chief Jim Kubinski.

Firefighters got a call around 10:15 p.m. from a homeowner in the 2200 block of Salisbury Drive who said they could see smoke coming up from the basement of their home. Kubinski said the fire was put out in 10 minutes.

The residents were able to return to their home. The cause of the fire was deemed to be accidental.
