Naperville To Break Ground On New Jaycees Park

The outdoor workspace will feature free WiFi and solar-fueled charging stations footsteps from the riverwalk.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville residents who work remotely will soon be able to take advantage of free wiFi outdoors when the city's new "smart park" opens. The groundbreaking for the Naperville Jaycees Park is set for Sept. 18, kicking off work on an outdoor space where residents and visitors will have access to free wiFi, charging stations, and USB ports.

Located on the Naperville Municipal Center's north lawn, Jaycees Park will be built to integrate seamlessly with and have minimal impact on the city's existing Riverwalk green space. The charging towers at Jaycees Park will be powered via solar panels that are located on top of the city's municipal center and the park landscape will be lined with permeable pavers and dotted with rain gardens.

The smart park is funded via community donations. City officials say the Naperville Jaycees were chosen as the space's namesake because they have made the most significant contributions to the project.
