Naperville Coronavirus Cases Rise By 1.1% In DuPage County

NAPERVILLE, IL — The number of coronavirus cases in Naperville has increased by 76 cases in the past week in DuPage County, according to information from the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD). Those numbers reflect a decrease compared to the previous week, which saw an increase of 122 coronavirus cases.

As of March 9, there had been 6,424 cases reported in the DuPage County portion of Naperville. The total number of cases reported in Naperville as of March 16 was 6,500 per DCHD, reflecting a weekly increase of just over 1.1 percent.

DCHD recently began sharing the number of probable coronavirus cases in each municipality. In Naperville, there have been 854 probable coronavirus cases since March 2020. Including probable cases, the total coronavirus case count for Naperville is at 7,354.

Naperville saw four more coronavirus deaths in the past week. There have been a total of 136 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths and 14 probable coronavirus deaths in Naperville since DCHD began tracking coronavirus statistics.

As of March 9, nearby Lisle had reported 1,630 total cases of the new coronavirus. Those numbers had increased to 1,646 as of March 16.

In Lisle, there have been 121 probable coronavirus cases since March 2020, according to county health records. With probable cases included, the total case count for Lisle is 1,767.

Lisle saw no additional coronavirus deaths in the past week. To date, there have been a total of 29 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths and two probable coronavirus deaths in the village, DCHD reports.

DuPage County recently reported that more than 200,000 residents had received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine. The county also marked another milestone in late February, as its overall coronavirus positivity rate dropped to its lowest point since June 2020.

The risk of transmission in DuPage County is currently classified as "substantial."
