Naperville Firefighter Honored For Pond Rescue

Carl Schultz was honored for what the fire department called a "selfless act and quick action" that saved a man's life.

NAPERVILLE, IL --- A Naperville firefighter was recently honored for rescuing a man from a retention pond. Carl Schultz, who works as a firefighter and paramedic, received a Valor award from the 100 Club of DuPage County.

Schultz received the award for saving the life of a man who drove into a retention pond in early 2018, according to a post from the Naperville Fire Department.

The 100 Club's Valor awards are given to firefighters, paramedics, and police officers who are picked by their peers for recognition. Schultz and other recipients were honored at a special awards ceremony and dinner Thursday.
