Naperville Home Ignites After Heat Gun Used To Defrost Pipes
The blaze prompted firefighters to warn homeowners of the danger of defrosting pipes.

NAPERVILLE, IL -- The Naperville Fire Department is reminding homeowners to use "extreme caution" when trying to unfreeze pipes after a home caught fire when a resident was trying to use a heat gun to defrost pipes in a wall. The fire broke out late Wednesday in the 1100 block of Nashua Drive, according to a news release.
Officials got to the scene just before 11 p.m. after smoke was reported coming from the home's kitchen and second-floor bathroom. Fire crews were able to pinpoint the blaze to part of the kitchen ceiling, where it was contained and extinguished with the help of additional fire trucks.
No one was injured in the fire, which officials deemed to be accidental. The residents were able to return to their home after the fire was safely put out.
