NAPERVILLE, IL — A Naperville man faces several felony charges after police say he neglected to surrender his firearms after his FOID card was revoked. Gerald Foxx, 42, of the 400 block of Brad Court, was charged with possession of a firearm with a revoked FOID card, failure to surrender a FOID card and possession of ammunition without a valid FOID card.

Illinois State Police contacted the Naperville Police Department in May to report that Foxx's FOID card and concealed carry license had been revoked. Police say an investigation led them to discover Foxx had not turned in his FOID or concealed carry license or any firearms or ammunition.

Foxx was taken into custody Thursday and police say they seized two guns at that time.

“When the Illinois State Police notifies someone that their FOID card or Concealed Carry License has been revoked, they have 48 hours to turn in their card and any firearms they own,” Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres said in a statement. “All too often in this country, we’ve seen cases where people who should not have been in possession of firearms have committed acts of violence. I can’t commend our Strategic Response Unit enough for their proactive work going after these individuals and taking firearms out of the hands of those who shouldn’t have them.”
