Naperville Man in Custody For Shooting That Put Bolingbrook HS on Lockdown

The shooting had nothing to do with the high school, police said.

A Naperville man wanted for gunning down another man less than a mile from Bolingbrook High School landed in the Will County jail Thursday and will appear in court Friday morning.

Marcello Thrash, 21, was supposed to be transferred from the Cook County jail to Joliet for a Wednesday court date. Thrash was serving 60 days in Cook for a domestic battery conviction.

Thrash never made it down and no one knew where he was Wednesday. It turned out he was released to DuPage County authorities instead and locked up there overnight. He was then transferred to Will County.

Thrash allegedly shot down Demetrius White in January. White took a bullet to his belly, according to a criminal complaint. The complaint also accuses Thrash of shooting at—and missing—two other men, Devonte Pruitt and Rashaun Hairl.

Yet another man allegedly connected to the shooting, 22-year-old William Acrey, was charged with obstructing justice. Acrey allegedly removed shell casings from the scene of the Kingsbrook Crossing Crime.

Bolingbrook High School officials put the school on lockdown for about 10 minutes following the shooting. Four other Bolingbrook schools were put on a less stringent form of lockdown.
