Naperville Man Gets Prison for Stealing Military Equipment
Equipment was valued at $332,702.

A Naperville man was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Robert Dow, Jr. to one year and one day in prison for stealing $332,702 in military technology equipment, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Timothy L. Maurer was charged with theft of government property after stealing and selling more than 150 pieces of computer and communications equipment belonging to United States military units in Afghanistan, according to a plea agreement.
Maurer was an employee of Raytheon Corporation and arrived at Shindand Air Base in December of 2013 to begin work as a systems administrator. As a Raytheon employee, Maurer had access to storage containers and other areas where government-owned computer and communications equipment were maintained. The plea agreement states Maurer only had authorization to access the equipment. At no time was he authorized to remove it for personal purposes.
