Naperville Park District announces winners of 2016 all-city junior tennis tournament

Naperville Park District Hosts Competition at Knoch Park

Youth tennis players in Naperville competed in the Naperville Park District’s annual All-City Junior Tennis Tournament, hosted at Knoch Park July 25-27. Singles matches were played in three age categories. The results are as follows:

Girls Singles

10 & under: Anjali Bhawnani, Champion; Gabi Brown, Finalist

12 & under: Rebecca Jacobs, Champion; Jessica Nagy, Finalist

Boys Singles

10 & Under: Ethan Cuasay, Champion; Michael Cortez, Finalist

12 & Under: Alex Brown, Champion; Vincent Yin, Finalist

14 & Under: Ashwin Garg, Champion; Khush Parekh, Finalist

Most of the entrants were participants in the Naperville Park District’s Junior Tennis Program, however, the tournament was open to any player who can serve from the baseline and keep score. All players received a ribbon for their participation and trophies were awarded to the champions and finalists in each division.

“For many of the players, this tournament was their first experience with a formal competition,” said Program Manager Gary Foiles. “We are proud to offer a tennis program for all ages that encourages kids to learn the game early and have fun while they progress in their skill.”
