Naperville Parks Mosquito Update
Sportsman's Park, Seager Park and Knoch Knolls Park to be treated and retested
Recent initial tests of mosquito traps at Sportsman’s Park (735 S. West Street), Seager Park (1163 Plank Road) and Knoch Knolls Park (320 Knoch Knolls Road) have returned one instance of West Nile Virus at each location as reported by the City of Naperville. The City defines positive, reportable results as two instances in one location. Since these are the first results affecting park locations in 2018, the Park District wants to remind residents of where this information can be found on an ongoing basis. The Park District posts results from the City’s tests when they are available at https://www.napervilleparks.org/westnilevirusinformation. More information about the City’s mosquito control program is available at http://www.naperville.il.us/residents/our-urban-forest/mosquito-control/.
City crews will spray the affected areas on August 2 and 3 and the surrounding catch basins will be retreated. Traps will be retested the week of August 6.
There are some common sense, preventative measures that park patrons can take to protect themselves from mosquito bites. The information is provided by the Centers for Disease Control on their website at http://www.cdc.gov/westnile/index.html .
