Naperville Police To Hold Fraud Seminars As Scams On Rise
Police will educate residents about recent scams and how to help prevent scammers.
NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville police have planned a pair of seminars to educate residents about the risk scams in the wake of an increase in fraudulent behavior in the area. The first presentation will be held on Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. at 95th Street Library and the second will be held on Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the Naperville Municipal Center.
Police personnel and detectives will be on hand to talk about some of the common scams they have had residents report recently. They will also talk about things residents can do to help protect themselves from becoming victims of a scam.
Deputy Chief Kathy Anderson said, "Scammers can be very convincing and will often play on a victim's emotions or fears to get them to pay. Educating yourself on what to look for is crucial.”
