Naperville Police Increase Patrols For Holiday Season

Naperville police will have safety belt checkpoints set up and will be on the lookout for impaired drivers.

NAPERVILLE, IL --- With the holiday season, many people indulge a little extra in eats, sweets, and alcoholic beverages. Add this to the increase in traffic around the Thanksgiving holiday and the risk for drivers increases dramatically. Naperville Police Department is once again planning to increase patrols and enforcement of seatbelt and impaired driver violations as part of the state's ongoing Click It or Ticket and Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaigns.

According to a press release, Naperville police will have several safety belt checkpoints set up throughout the city. They also urge drivers to report anyone they see on the road who may be driving while under the influence.

In a statement, Naperville Police Sergeant Derek Zook said, "We need our community to understand: It’s up to them to make the smart decision to drive sober – during Thanksgiving, throughout the holidays and every day. Impaired driving remains a huge problem in Illinois and our country, and if arresting someone is what it takes to stop this deadly crime, so be it. Drive sober to help us put an end to these senseless crashes.”
