Naperville Police Invite Kids To Open Bike Night
The summer event serves to teach kids basic safety techniques while riding bikes, and offers helmet fitting by police officers.

NAPERVILLE, IL -- Naperville police are inviting children to attend "Open Bike Night" at Safety Town this summer. The police partnered with the Naperville Junior Woman's Club to offer the event, which will focus on educating kids about safe riding.
The event will take place on Wednesdays, June 7, 14, 21, 28, July 12, 19, 26, and Aug. 2 at the Naperville Junior Woman's Club's Safety Town at 1320 Aurora Ave. Kids between the ages of three and 10 are invited and must be supervised.
Participants can practice the basic rules of safe bike riding, including riding in single file, stopping and looking both ways at intersections, using hand signals and following road signs and signals. Teen volunteers will work at the traffic lights for a more realistic biking experience, according to a press release.

Police will offer helmet fitting sessions to ensure kids' helmets fit properly. They said a well-fitted helmet can reduce the risk of head injury by 85 percent and urged all riders to wear a helmet when biking.
The cost of five dollars per child.
