Naperville Swimmer Wins 2 Gold Medals At Special Olympics

Swimmer Grace Seiboldt, 21, won two gold medals, a silver medal, and a shot at the U.S. Paralympics team.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Swimming seems to com second nature to Grace Seiboldt; after all, she's done it since she was five years old. The 21-year-old Naperville woman, who is on the autism spectrum, recently competed in the U.S. Special Olympics 2018 games, bringing home a total of three medals: two gold and one silver, Chicago Tribune reports.

Seiboldt took home gold in the 4x100 meter medley race and the 200 meter individual medley race, along with a silver medal in the 400 meter freestyle swim. The swimmer was among fewer than 50 athletes from Illinois who were chosen to compete with 4,000 other Special Olympians at the national event.

Seiboldt's swimming success also got her an invite to try out for the U.S. Paralympics team. That opportunity awaits Seiboldt in the fall, so she's got a little bit of time to rest. But our bet is that she'll spend those next few months doing what she does best — swimming.
