Naperville Woman Accused Of Lying On FOID Application To Buy Gun
Atanda Williams, 43, pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of forgery.
NAPERVILLE, IL — A Naperville woman faces two felony counts of forgery after she was accused of falsifying information on a Firearm Owner's Identification Card (FOID) to buy a gun. Atanda Williams, 43, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Prosecutors say Williams, who was previously convicted of forgery in 2001 and 2004, said she was not a convicted felon when she filled out a FOID application in 2014. Williams used the FOID application to buy a gun in 2016, a news release said.
The gun was found, loaded, while police were executing a search warrant on Williams's home for an earlier arrest on unrelated drug charges.

“Today’s arraignment highlights my office’s continued efforts to address gun violence in all its forms,” Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul said in the news release.
Raoul added, “Individuals who lie on FOID applications in order to purchase a firearm should be held accountable. I will continue working with the ISP to ensure firearms do not get in the hands of those who legally should not have access to them.”
