Naperville Woman Injured in Crash Receives Traffic Citations

The accident occurred at Route 59 and Leverenz Road on Dec. 30.

A Naperville woman who was seriously injured in a crash last week has been cited for failure to yield at an intersection and no seat belt, Naperville police said.

Lynn Schopler, 65, has since been treated and released from Edward Hospital following the crash that occurred at 4:22 p.m. on Dec. 30.

The two-car crash occurred at Route 59 and Leverenz Road when police said a 2000 Acura, driven by Schopler, was traveling west on Leverenz and collided with a 2005 Scion, which had been southbound on Route 59, according to a Naperville Police Department press release.

Geoffrey Basillo, 26, of Plainfield, was the driver of the Scion. He was not injured in the crash.

Schopler was initially taken to Edward Hospital with serious injuries and has been treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said Wednesday.

The crash closed southbound lanes of Route 59 at Leverenz for nearly 1.5 hours.
