Neighborhoods: Sign Up For Naperville National Night Out
The 21st annual National Night Out will celebrate community and promote public safety. The deadline to sign up is July 15.

NAPERVILLE, IL -- 30 neighborhoods in Naperville have signed up to participate in the 21st annual National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 1. Naperville police are encouraging neighborhoods to sign up by July 15 to make sure police, fire, city vehicles and employees can make an appearance at your neighborhood event.
Commonly called "America's Night Out Against Crime," the annual event is designed to bolster drug prevention and crime awareness and generate support for local anti-crime efforts. Last year's National Night Out saw 35 neighborhoods participating in Naperville, which put on block parties, potlucks, parades and more.
National Night Out will last from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in each participating neighborhood. Registration is free.

"On the night of the neighborhood events, residents throughout Naperville and across the nation are asked to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors and spend the evening outside with their neighbors, police officers, firefighters and other city personnel," the event webpage says. "Events such as cookouts, block parties and neighborhood walks will all occur simultaneously throughout Naperville and nationwide."
“One of the things that makes Naperville such a safe community is the participation of our residents and neighborhoods in crime prevention and awareness,” said Mayor Steve Chirico. “National Night Out fosters police/community partnerships as well as a feeling of community that brings everyone together for a common good – the safety of everyone in our city.”
