OAR connects Chicagoland youth with behavioral health services

With youth back in school, educators are finding an increased need for mental health and substance use services as many youth rely on unhealthy coping skills to handle elevated stress and anxiety.

To meet this need in Chicagoland schools, the Onsite Assessments with Rosecrance (OAR) program contracts with schools to provide therapists who can evaluate students’ needs and collaborate with families and school staff to link adolescents with appropriate behavioral health services.

“By working so closely with schools, we build a village around each student we serve,” said Mary Egan, Rosecrance Director of Outreach. “Our staff is there to provide insight into what the student may be going through, answer questions about treatment options, and help the entire team understand how they can best support the teen.”

Following an initial evaluation and conversations, individuals receive a direct link to the most appropriate level of care. Rosecrance offers a full continuum of assistance, including prevention education and early intervention, outpatient treatment available at Chicagoland locations, and residential care at the Rosecrance Griffin Williamson campus in Rockford.
