At the June 9, 2022 Park Board meeting, Park Police Chief Steve Schindlbeck and the Board of Commissioners recognized Park Police Officer Tom Wronski’s work in developing a collaborative effort to help individuals who may be in distress and contemplating suicide. Operation Disrupt was launched in spring of 2022 in collaboration with Linden Oaks Behavioral Health, the City of Naperville Police Department, and the police departments of the Forest Preserve Districts of DuPage and Will Counties. Signs have been placed in selected areas in parks and public places directing anyone in distress to contact the National Suicide prevention Lifeline or Crisis Text Line. Additionally, crisis intervention training is being provided to officers who patrol these areas.
