Out-Of-State Juvenile Made Threat Against Naperville North: Police

NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville Police say an out-of-state juvenile has been identified as the person who made a threat against Naperville North High School on Friday.

Commander Michaus Williams told Patch charges have not yet been filed against the person. Naperville North cancelled classes Friday morning after a threat was made against the school.

At Monday's Naperville School District 203 board meeting, three parents pushed the board for better school security and a more efficient way to notify the community about threats.

Superintendent Dan Bridges said the district, in partnership with law enforcement, will prosecute anyone who threatens district schools to the fullest extent allowed by the law.

"I share the same frustration, I share the same anxiety, I share all the same feelings, and I will add to it anger that this type of disruption is occurring in our schools," he said at Monday's meeting.

"We will do our best to continue to communicate with our families the information that we can communicate," Bridges continued. "We do have to take every one of these threats as a serious, credible threat to the safety of our students and our staff."

Bridges also asked the community to not spread rumors about who is behind the threats.

"I know you want information, we will communicate as much as we can," he said. "Please do not continue to spread rumors at the time of these threats."

Naperville School District 203 has restricted access to North and Central, with students and staff the only people allowed in or out of the buildings. These measures are in place "until further notice," the district said in an email.

The NNHS North Star, a student publication, said Principal Stephanie Posey is still offering a $250 reward for students who provide her with credible information about the recent threats.
