Park District Shares Statement After Naperville Voters Favor Referendum

NAPERVILLE, IL — The Naperville Park District expressed its thanks and gave an update via a statement after the majority of voters favored their $120 million bond referendum question in Tuesday's primary election.

The park district plans to keep community members involved as they move forward with acquiring new land and building a new fitness center at Frontier Sports Complex.

In the statement, park district officials thanked voters for "their engagement and authorization."

The referendum vote followed months of open houses an community meetings about proposed projects. After receivin feedback from community members and local organizations, the park district scaled back the referendum scope from six projects to two projects and lowered the bond amount from its original proposal of $135 million.

Per the park district statement, "The outcome of this community-driven process reflects overall resident desire to invest in recreation amenities to serve Naperville’s diverse and growing population."
