Police To Target Impaired, Distracted Drivers During Labor Day In Naperville (patch.com) — Naperville drivers can expect extra police patrols through Labor Day as officers focus on catching impaired, speeding, and unbelted motorists under statewide "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" campaigns. The Naperville Police Department says it will have zero tolerance for driving under the influence of alcohol, cannabis, or other drugs through Sept. 8.
   

2. Central implements new technology for the 2026-27 school year (centraltimes.org) — Naperville Central families will see big tech changes this school year as District 203 replaces Remind with Apptegy through the Naperville 203 app and pilots Google Classroom in about 40 classes. Administrators say the shift should eventually unify platforms across grade levels, while some teachers worry about the time-consuming move from Canvas and the loss of certain features.
   

3. Naperville panel rejects critics, OKs historic Kroehler mansion color scheme changes (chicagotribune.com) — Naperville's Historic Preservation Commission has approved black windows and a darker roof for the historic Kroehler mansion, despite objections from preservation advocates who say the changes undermine its character and city code. Supporters, including the builder and some commissioners, argue the color shift aligns with nearby homes, keeps the mansion preserved within the Heritage Place development, and maintains its tax value for the city.
   

4. Austin LAN gets ten signups under two hours after registration opens (dust2.us) — A major CS2 LAN with a $30,000 prize pool is coming to Naperville from November 13–15, giving local players a rare chance to compete close to home. Ten of 32 team spots sold within about an hour, with entry including hotel rooms and meals. Unranked teams are already signing up, and organizers expect the timing after the Singapore Major to attract more competitors.
   

5. Following in brother's footsteps, Simon Hayes shows 'unbelievable perseverance' to lead Naperville Central (chicagotribune.com) — Naperville Central senior quarterback Simon Hayes has earned the starting job after years as a backup, leading the Redhawks to a 42–21 home win over Lockport with four touchdown passes. Coaches and teammates praise his perseverance, offseason work, and growing leadership, noting his strong connection with receivers like Mark Williams and a balanced offense that bounced back from a disappointing opener.
