1. 'The Spirit of the American Navy' by sculptor E. M. Viquesney (positivelynaperville.com) — A major restoration has refreshed the 1923 'Spirit of the American Navy' statue in Burlington Square Park, just south of the Naperville train station, with work also planned for its Doughboy companion. Public art curator Dodie Mondero now maintains more than 50 Century Walk pieces and has created several downtown murals that celebrate Naperville's history and community pride.
   

2. This Naperville High School Ranks Among Illinois' Top 25: U.S. News & World Report (patch.com) — Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville has been ranked 12th in Illinois and 295th nationwide in U.S. News & World Report's 2026–27 Best High Schools list. The report highlights Neuqua's strong graduation, test performance, and college readiness alongside other top Illinois schools.
   

3. August 2026 – Behind the Horn With the Naperville Municipal Band (positivelynaperville.com) — Naperville's Municipal Band is spotlighting clarinetist and intern Theo Christopherson, who plays in the band's weekly summer outdoor concerts that bring the community together in Central Park. Theo shares how NMB traditions, quick-turn rehearsals, and his Neuqua Valley roots shape his path toward becoming a band director.
   

4. $35 million debt certificate helps Yorkville meet Lake Michigan bills (shawlocal.com) — Naperville is a key junction in a massive Lake Michigan water project that will pipe treated lake water to Yorkville, Oswego, and Montgomery via mains near the city. Yorkville is securing a $35 million bridge loan, on top of earlier financing, to cover delayed federal funds, a move that could eventually influence regional water rates and long-term infrastructure planning affecting Naperville's broader area.
   

5. Man arrested after driving wrong way on Indiana Toll Road while intoxicated, police say (wndu.com) — A Naperville resident is facing charges after Indiana State Police say he drove the wrong way while intoxicated on the Indiana Toll Road, forcing several cars to swerve to avoid a crash. The 51-year-old, identified as being from Naperville, was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and drug-related offenses and is being held in LaPorte County Jail, a reminder of the serious consequences of such behavior for locals traveling out of state.
