Protesters Throng Downtown Naperville As Businesses Board Up
Hundreds of protesters marched through the streets of downtown Naperville Monday demanding justice for George Floyd's death.
NAPERVILLE, IL — Hundreds of protesters thronged the sidewalks of downtown Naperville Monday demanding justice for the death of George Floyd. The protests were underway as a number of businesses in downtown Naperville boarded up their windows as a precautionary measure.
In a video shared with Patch around 3 p.m., protesters were seen holding signs and shouting "no justice, no peace." The protesters were seen marching down Washington Street saying, "I can't breathe," the last words of Floyd. Nearby, police officers were seen gathering in riot gear with shields in hand.
As of 5:30 p.m. Naperville officials said the protesters were still gathered downtown and causing traffic issues. Residents were advised to avoid the area.

A peaceful protest was held in Cantore Park Sunday, the site where the phrase "white pride" was recently spray painted on a partition.
