NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville is closing City Hall at 12 p.m. Monday and urges downtown businesses to close as well, amid "multiple, unconfirmed reports of protests planned throughout the western suburbs," according to a news release. City officials say the decision was made "out of an abundance of caution" in the wake of nearby looting and protests against the death of George Floyd. Residents were also urged to avoid the downtown area.

The news comes as the Apple store and other retailers and restaurants in downtown Naperville boarded up its windows as a precautionary measure.
