Residents, Cat Rescued From Naperville Apartment Fire

The fire sent two residents and a firefighter to the hospital.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville firefighters rescued four residents and a cat from a fire that broke out in an apartment building Sunday morning. The blaze started around 8:25 a.m. in the 700 block of Benedetti, according to a Facebook post and a media release from Naperville Fire Department.

Fire officials say the residents were inside the apartment when they arrived at the scene, but everyone was evacuated safely. Two of the residents were taken to Edward Hospital, along with a firefighter who responded to the incident.

The Naperville Fire Department got backup assistance from neighboring fire departments while battling the blaze. Other responding fire stations included Downers Grove, Oswego, Lisle-Woodridge, Warrenville, and Plainfield.

After the fire, residents in the building were given accommodations by the Red Cross because the apartment building was deemed to be uninhabitable. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
