Senior Saved From Blaze At Naperville Home

Police say the victim will be able to stay with family members.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A Naperville senior citizen was rescued from a home that was declared uninhabitable after a fire broke out early Monday. Fire officials got a call around 2:46 a.m. to report smoke coming from a single-story home in the 800 block of Emerald Drive.

Once firefighter got to the scene they say they helped an elderly man from inside the home and continued to fight the flames and find and put out any hidden fires in the residence. Fire officials say the blaze was put out in about 30 minutes.

The home was deemed uninhabitable, but family members who arrived at the scene said they would help the victim with housing.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
