Sept. 11 Survivor To Speak At Remembrance At Shanower Memorial
Dan Basco, who survived the attacks on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, will speak at Naperville's 2023 remembrance event.
NAPERVILLE, IL — A man who survived the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center will share his personal reflections at Naperville's upcoming Remembrance Event. The event will be held at Cmdr. Dan Shanower Memorial, which will also mark its 20th anniversary on Sept. 11, 2023.
Basco founded the organization American Pride, Inc., to help Sept. 11 survivors share their stories. According to the American Pride, Inc., website, Bacso was working on the 57th floor of Tower One when the buildings were hit.
Joining Basco to share remarks will be Naperville Mayor Scott Wehrli, Fire Chief Mark Puknaitis and Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres.

The Cmdr. Dan Shanower Memorial was dedicated in 2003 in honor of Shanower, who grew up in Naperville and died while serving at the Pentagon on Sept. 11.
