Accused Shoplifter Hits Manager With Car In Naperville: Cops
Police say she made several other traffic violations after allegedly driving into the manager.

NAPERVILLE, IL — An Aurora woman faces multiple charges after she allegedly shoplifted from a Naperville business and struck the store manager while attempting to flee in her car Friday. Martha L. Lara, 58, has been charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, retail theft, hit and run, reckless driving, and traffic citations in connection with the incident.
According to police, Lara exited the Jewel-Osco store on the 2800 block of 95th St. around 8:49 a.m. without paying for merchandise. The store manager reportedly told police that Lara had hit him with her car as she attempted to flee the scene.
Police say they witnessed Lara commit several traffic violations while trying to flee before they pulled her over and took her into custody on Showplace Dr.

The manager sustained minor injuries from the collision and did not require hospital care, according to police.
