Shoppers Help Detain Man Stealing Meds At Naperville Store: Cops

The alleged thief reportedly had tools to open a locked display case.

NAPERVILLE, IL --- A Chicago man was recently caught trying to break into a locked display case and steal medication at a Walgreens in Naperville. Police say customers and a store manager helped detain Saul Herrera, 32, before police got to the scene at 400 S. Main St. in Naperville, Chicago Tribune reports.

Herrera allegedly came into the store around 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 28 and used a master key to open a display case and remove over-the-counter medications. A store manager reportedly saw Herrera putting medicine and other items into his jacket before attempting to leave the premises.

Customers and the manager were able to keep Herrera on the property until Naperville police got to the scene.

Herrera was charged with possession of burglary tools and retail theft.
