Southwest Community Park Survey Available Online through May 3

Naperville residents invited to give feedback on draft site master plan

The Naperville Park District invites residents to view the draft master plan for Southwest Community Park and to provide feedback through a survey at www.napervilleparks.org/parks/southwestcommunitypark. The online survey will be available through May 3.

The draft site master plan is based on community input provided at a March 1 public meeting with 40 attendees, at stakeholder workshops and through an online survey following the meeting that received more than 1,200 responses.

The Park District hosted a second public meeting on April 25 to present the draft plan and to ask residents for their ideas and preferences regarding both outdoor and indoor amenities to be considered in the plan. Approximately 30 people attended the meeting. A copy of the PowerPoint presentation and an audio recording of the meeting are posted online with a link to the survey. The online survey expands the opportunity for public input to the entire community and will be an important source of guidance for the future development of the park.

Southwest Community Park is a 33-acre site located in southwest Naperville at the intersection of Wolf's Crossing Road and Trumpet Avenue.

Following further review the draft site master plan will be presented to the board of commissioners for discussion at a board meeting in June. A completed master plan will be brought to the board for approval in summer 2018. The master plan will guide the District in future development of the park, which most likely will span multiple years, depending on needs, costs and funding.
