Stava-Murray Rescinds Challenge For Durbin's Seat: Report
The Naperville Democrat says she wants to focus on re-election to the 81st District.

NAPERVILLE, IL —State Rep. Anne Stava-Murray (D-81), who made waves when she made a public challenge for Rep. Dick Durbin's (D-IL) seat, has now rescinded that challenge almost as abruptly as she presented it. Instead, she's focusing her energy on keeping her seat in the state house, Daily Herald reports.
Stava-Murray, who was elected to the 81st District Seat in 2018, says she plans to focus on her district's needs. One of Stava-Murray's priorities is to get a graduated income tax put into action, according to her campaign website.
Stava-Murray made headlines when she first announced her challenge against Durbin, Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan and U.S. Senate lawmakers "bullies who try to hurt us." She furthered her accusations of bullying with an inciteful statement about Naperville's administration.

"Naperville is the biggest bullies," she said. "I worked there for 6 months and they ran me out of there."
She added that Naperville is, "one of the areas where a lack of policy is a white supremacist policy.”
