Steps Program teachers make the grade

Local teachers serve students and families on McTeacher's Night to raise money for the upcoming 5K, District, and Steps Program.

Naperville| Steps Program students gave teachers an A-plus on their fundraising efforts to support the School's program and the district.

Teachers from Naperville School District 204 volunteered behind the counter on Wednesday, August 28th at the McDonald's located on Rt. 59. The teachers worked hard to serve students and their families in a fundraiser for The Steps Program.

The Steps Program offers students vocational skills development in integrated, employer paid, community-based training experiences utilizing on-the-job evaluation, training and coaching which may extend beyond hours of a school day.

Nick Kory, Owner-Operator of the Naperville McDonald's was delighted to participate in the worthy cause for education and the community.

"McTeacher's Night is part of McDonald's larger commitment to education and other important initiatives supporting families and the local community," Kory said.

"We are proud to serve the families of the Steps community through the McTeacher's Night event," Kory continued. "In addition to helping provide financial support for our local schools, we help students feel connected to their school, their teachers and their sense of community."

Kory donated a case of apple pies to the school for sale at the event. Inspired by the success of McTeacher's Night, Kory has his sights on partnering with other schools in the Naperville area soon.

"Principal Maloney and all the teachers who rolled up their sleeves in support of this event are the fabrics that strengthen our community," Kory said.

A special thank you goes to Steps teacher Felicia Akman who organized the Steps McTeacher’s Night and worked the entire night.
