Success Leaves Clues
The best way to improve is to find people that have already achieved what you want to accomplish, and study what they've done.

The famous author and speaker Jim Rohn is famous for saying success leaves clues, and there’s certainly a lot of truth to that. Sometimes, the best way to improve is to find people that have already achieved what you want to accomplish, and study what they’ve done.
In my field, there’s no shortage of wanna-be business gurus and marketing “experts” that are continually peddling their garbage. Or, believe it or not, they’re willing to share with you the highly exclusive, most amazing, number one secret to being successful...for a fee.

What’s key is being able to find the people that are the real deal, and studying what they did. From there, it’s just a matter of reverse-engineering some of the key tenets to their success. This is something I continually do in my life for any goal I have set for myself. If you’re serious about a goal, I strongly suggest you do the same.
That being said, recently, Jon and I were able to set-up a quick trip to Indianapolis to visit one of the top gyms in America, Indianapolis Fitness and Sports Training. This was kind of a big deal for me, as one of the owners, Mike Robertson, is responsible for a sizable portion of Welligee’s continuing education, not to mention he happens to be the staff favorite so far amongst the plethora of continuing education products we devour on a weekly basis.

We went there with one goal in mind: to see how they successfully run one of the top gyms in America. It sounds like quite a feat, but everyone from the owners to the staff to the interns couldn’t have been nicer and more helpful, which really clarified some of my questions. We even got to sit in on a staff in-service, which was fantastic. Needless to say, it was a great learning experience, and I was very impressed. It should go without saying that Amanda and Ashley were pretty excited to hear about it when we got back.
Running a business in the fitness industry is no easy task. There is new research, techniques, and courses all the time. It’s a constantly evolving field, and staying up to date is a never-ending feat. That’s probably why I love it so much. It’s great to be able to look back a few years and think how far we’ve come since then. Constantly learning is a core value we uphold at Welligee. We come together, as a team, and share new information or discuss what we we need to change to give our clients the best experience we can.
So, how can you fit this concept into your own life? Why not find people who have already tried, perhaps failed, and kept trying until they succeeded to reach your goal? That sure seems like it would save you some time. There’s probably someone you can contact who has lost 50lbs, or started a successful business, or reached level 500 on Candy Crush (one of our clients actually did this...seriously).
There’s no shame in asking for help. The most successful people in any field have mentors or other people they come to for help, and it should be no different for any of us. It may be just the thing you need to kickstart your progress.
