Vending Machine Catches Fire In Naperville Business

Fire officials say the building's sprinkler system helped to keep the fire contained to a single room.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville firefighters say an indoor sprinkler system helped save a commercial warehouse building from being consumed by fire early Saturday. Officials say the fire started in a vending machine inside a building in the 400 block of Fort Hill Drive around 5:30 a.m.

Some two dozen firefighters arrived at the scene after smoke was reported inside of the building. When fire crews arrived, they say they did not see smoke or flames visible from the building's exterior.

Once firefighters were able to enter the building, they traced the fire to a vending machine. The sprinkler system was right above the vending machine, fire officials say, which kept the flames contained within a single room.
