Vigil To Honor Naperville Woman Killed In Murder-Suicide

A vigil will be held at Naperville's Free Speech Pavilion in remembrance of Karen Easton, 42, who was killed in an apparent murder-suicide.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A candlelight vigil is planned for Sunday to honor the memory of Karen Easton, 42, who was killed in an apparent murder-suicide in Naperville.

Participants are encouraged to bring flameless candles to the vigil, the social media event page said. The vigil will begin at 6 p.m. at the Free Speech Pavilion on the Naperville Riverwalk.

Karen Easton and her ex-husband, Lynn Easton, 49, Michigan were found dead in Karen's home in the 1300 block of Crabapple Court on the morning of Jan. 18.

Police first arrived at the home around 7 a.m. in response to a call about a domestic incident. They later found Karen Easton and Lynn Easton dead inside the home. Karen Easton died of multiple gunshot wounds and Lynn Easton died of an intra-oral gunshot wound, according to DuPage County Coroner Richard Jorgensen.

A GoFundMe has been started to help fund Karen Easton's funeral costs. Easton will be buried in her hometown in the Philippines, according to the fundraiser which was launched by her sister, Doreen.

The GoFundMe page describes Karen Easton, who worked for United Senior Services in Woodridge, as a "beautiful, caring, and hard-working caregiver to many families."

The dedication continued, "She always put her family first. She cherished and loved her son, Clair. She was thankful for the help and love of her mother, Maria, and loved her family with all her heart.

You became an instant friend of hers, the minute you met her. Her smile lit up a room when she walked in. She touched the hearts of so many and will forever remain dear to us."
