Warrenville Fire Protection District earns Edward's "Run of the Quarter" award

Paramedics were recognized for their assessment of a patient who was eventually diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Edward Hospital’s EMS (Emergency Medical Services) “Run of the Quarter” for July-September has been awarded to Warrenville Fire Protection District, Station 1, Black Shift.

The team was recognized for their care of a 69-year-old woman who was brought to the station by her friends, who said the woman hadn’t been herself for several days. Paramedics noticed a slight droop on the left side of the woman’s face and recommended further testing at Edward Hospital, where a CT scan revealed a large brain tumor on the right side of her head. Surgery was performed to remove the tumor and the patient was later released to a skilled nursing facility for rehabilitation.

In the “Run of the Quarter” program, the Edward EMS Team reviews ambulance runs by pre-hospital providers and selects one to be recognized every three months based on the following criteria:
